SACRAMENT OF THE EUCHARIST
Catholics believe the Eucharist, or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.
Catholics who are housebound or too ill to join with the community at Sunday Mass are able to receive the Eucharist from Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist who will call at the homes of our fellow parishioners.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
We ask that you pray for our young people that they will stay close to Christ and His Church and bear witness to the Lord in their lives.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE
Couples getting married must complete both Church and State paperwork. A marriage civil partnership notice application form is available to download from www.derrycity.gov.uk
This has to be completed and signed by the officiating priest and returned to the Guildhall.
The couple along with the priest from the parish where they reside have to complete a Pre Nuptal Enquiry. This form indicates that they are a member of the Catholic Church, that they are free to marry and that they are mature adults who understand the Sacrament of Marriage and accept the responsibilities of marriage. The Lord has a plan for each of us; he calls each one of us by name. Our task is to learn how to listen, to perceive his call, to be courageous and faithful in following him and, when all is said and done, to be found trustworthy
who have used well the gifts given us.
Pope Benedict XVI
